I'm going to go see my tattoo artist about shading the apples in the Tree of Knowledge red. I also want to add another Durer angel to the one already on my leg and then get some textual banding...a quote about angels....not sure exactly which one yet. Martin Luther most probably. And searching always for a smexy, woodcut-looking satyr.

~***~

I got ENABLED at GoGa - well that's what it's all about, right? I found myself completely drawn to....the Volks yos!!!! Played with an adorable Neon and I was just surprised at how hefty they are and the swaricco legs make them truly adorable! Plus - wee, childlike faces! So, I am shopping but counting my pennies, too - keep your eyes open flist for available yo-sds for me!

Home with a renewed sense of that Focus I was talking about last week. The Dollshe boys bring me so much....contentment and joy....I just think that so many of the other Big Boys here are going to have to go. I will very soon have a horned Heliot head, blank, on a Sard body - a true heraldic unicorn. And he can't stay - let me know if you're interested. My perfect deal would be trades for the new Dollshe - this pale tan Saint is making me want all resintones now! I want a pale tan DSAM32s body for my SA Saint head in pale tan....

Oh! And I got the Golden Fer - pictures soon! Speaking of pictures, I did get sparked over the con weekend....thinking about photos and poses and lighting. We all need to practice practice practice. I loved when armeleia and junkets assigned themselves daily colour prompts. I'm thinking this might be a good idea for me, too. Hopefully I can motivate myself.

An interesting thing about lj - if you filter a post it sometimes doesn't show up on the flist's flist for hours.

Re-reading Robin McKinley's "Sunshine". Much better the second time around. Yet it doesn't quite satisfy completely. I really thought she would have penned a sequel by now. For some reason I'm totally in longing for Romance - slow burn romance. Recs? (I need a Kindle.)

Gah, you just had to remind me of Sunshine. I'd forgotten about that book. Loved it the first time - though it took me awhile to get into her stuff. Am reading Sarah Monette's books again, she's such a natural writer. Earthy. *G*

I knew it was you - you and I were the only ones singing the praises of Sunshine way back when. Did you see the new cover? Why why why is there no sequel?

I will check out both Monette and tensiya!

If you aren't affronted by m/m, try Jordan Castillo Price. Her stuff is pretty damned good. www.jordancastilloprice.com

Yos seem to have terrifying pricetags... hence my miniscule collection of Leeke-D types. I've managed to stay under $200 with them, though they aren't as solid as a Yo. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. :)

Side note: What font is on your arm? I love it.

It's a modified Charmed - thanks!!!

For psychics, go with the Psycop set, for vampires that are too hot to be true, the Channeling Morpheus.

And if you want a real Sci-Fi kick in the pants serial she's writing, go with Zero Hour and learn how to be human all over again.

One day I am going to have to get a tattoo of my very own ... I seriously enjoy admiring other people! ::sigh::

Not sure which YoSD you are interested in but I have a YoSD Kun who has never been out of her box. Let me know if you are interested in some sort of trade. If not, that's cool too.

Looking forward to seeing who adorns that Golden Fer. :)

You definitely need to think about ink - have you thought about commissioning someone like sdink for a 2D version of one of your beloved DS? I have!

Ooooh! Kun is one of the headmoulds I'm drawn to! Let's talk!

I so wanted that Fer for one of the boys - but the arms are teensy!!!

Photo prompts are a good idea! Me...I couldn't even finish my own plan of doing all my Dollshe boys. I still need to take/post pics of Gavin to be complete.

So many pics I want to take...so little motivation.

I love all your ink. ^^

Your arm tatt's are very beautiful and so cool, but I agree that adding that touch of crimson to the apples of the Tree will be the perfect finishing touch! ^__^

And Yo's? A Yo (perhaps as a mischievous wee cherub?) would look rather awesome perched on the shoulder of one of your tall, regal DS guys!

Thanks, G! Yes, I think the apples really need to be red. I'm also considering a LARGE text piece down the outside of my forearm that will simply read TREE OF KNOWLEDGE.

Yos are beyond adorable - I had no idea!

FWIW, I dig all black (blue I guess) tattoos. I think adding color in most cases can ruin an otherwise cool design. Again, just my 2 cents. I don't even have any ink (can you believe it?) so I should shut up.

BTW, email me about DIJ, I'll burn for you and send it, or deliver personally (*waiting patiently for invite*) :) email = nfp (at) nofuture (dot) com.

If you want my honest opinion (or not) I think the tat looks great the way it is, I would not add to it or color it or anything. But again, that is just my opinion! ;)

I don't have ink mainly because I don't think there has ever been something I have been soooooo committed to that I wanted it on my body forever, except maybe KyotpPunk, but that is just a curse, so I would never do that. :) And then there is the expense of tats, there has always been something else I would rather spend $500 on, I don't really look at or like my body enough to adorn it with anything, other than cool band t-shirts and boots. :)

Yes, I listened to the Swans disc, and I think I have 99% of what I heard. There were 2 or 3 tracks towards the end of the disc I can't recall hearing, I will have to drill you on those. I think there were the ones right before and right after the Joy Division cover...

And the other disc has a couple songs I dig as well, and you put some Gira solo stuff on there or is it Angels Of Light? I don't have much of his solo work or the Angels of Light stuff....

Love seeing your ink, as always! I think a very subtle bit of red could work nicely with the black in the tree. I'm not wild about colour in tattoos either, but I find when it's black + 1 colour, it can look very striking in a good way.

Woodblock-style satyr ink would be amazing.

The inks awesome!! I love seeing the comparison of your arms with the text art and the image art . . . very cool. Now I want to see it in real life. And photos prompts is a nice idea. I feel myself to be in a rut photographically speaking. Sooo . . . *prompts* . . . I'd love inspiration from your photo workshop at Gogadolls please!!

PS - I love the Yo's . . . after looking at Celticgeekess's kids . . . they definitely look like they're habit forming.

Geez, your tattoos are incredible...I especially adore the text on your left arm. And you have very clean nails.

Yos are, as many have stated, rather addictive. If you're drawn to the boys and find yourself with only a head, I happen to have a spare Yo body I'd be happy to send your way; for some reason, my Volks Yo Kira came with a male body - weirdest thing ever. Must have slipped past Volks QC.

*sigh* I love your arm ink. It's just...so YOU and incredible.

I read Sunshine rec'd somewhere else, too. Need to pick that up. I'd like some recs, too, in the romance arena. I ahve a very, very hard time finding romance I like. I don't like...fluffy. I don't like the formula ones, for the most part. I tried JR Ward and didn't care for it. I want...that darkly intelligent SS/HG we used to read, ya know? Something with some bite and some wit. I dunno. I guess I don't know where to look. The only thing in the romance genre I've been able to love recently is the Sookie Stackhouse vampire series by Charlaine Harris. And I think because they're offbeat and have a sense of humor about themselves. I find that necessary in a book about vampires.

I've been wondering about the Kindle for Clint to take when deployed.

Thanks, B - I'm in love with both pieces!

Yes, I think you would really enjoy Sunshine - a bit too wordy in places and sadly in need of a sequel, but your kind of book. Do you generally enjoy McKinley?

Okay, so you didn't end up liking the BDB...to much a Romance? That would make sense. I'm in so much longing for a slow burn, intelligent romance...and they are just insanely difficult to find. I tried Harris and she didn't work for me.

The Kindle would be a great idea for him!

I haven't read any McKinley. I don't normally read in that genre at all. It's too hard for me to find anything good.

I think the Ward was too much of a formula romance for me? I get bored by the man who is so excruciatingly macho but can't stop himself from falling in love thing. I didn't finish her 1st book...maybe got 4-5 chapters in and could not stomach slogging through. Just not my thing.

Robin McKinley writes fairytales, B. I thought you knew her. She re-writes things...very, very well, such as..."Beauty" and "Deerkskin". She's quite prolific. I'm not sure why she stepped into a YA vampire...money, maybe.

Ah, yes, formulaic. I don't "do" Romances...or at least I never had until the past few years - so not sure what THAT is about....so I'm never sure if I'm seeing something formulaic or not - for me, it's always about the writing, and Ward writes her homo-erotic male very smexily.

But....still....no strong, literary slow burn recs yet....

Oh cool! I'll look her up immediately. Right up my alley.

When I was a very young thing and couldn't read fast enough my mother had no clue in what direction to point me, book wise. I was reading far above my actual grade level and so I ended up reading Jane Austen and harlequin novels pilfered from my grandmother or mother on the sly. Strange combo, I guess. Anyway, Ward's formula was not new. Heh.

I know it, B, I know it - I need to get writing again. I can't remember - did you read my reverse May-December?

It's a funny thing....us precocious readers and I do wonder about it having created my own precocious reader here....When I was young and reading a novel a day....I read only ONE "YA" - Are You There God, It's Me Margaret. I was horrified - now you must realize that I was...very....restrained as a pre-teen and quite...prudish, in many ways. Crushing wildly on Mr. Tumnus made perfect, comforting sense to me...but thinking about boys or boys my own age or how girls my own age acted....frightened me beyond belief. So...I began on "adult" novels - Watership Down, Shardik, then the High School Literature - Catch 22, Catcher in the Rye....and read Stephen King and Peter Straub in the summertime - all before I was fourteen! I never read a romance, a bodice ripper or a young adult....So, when I entered High School and was gifted with the most amazing Literature teacher (We were a small rural highschool of only four hundred students, so this was the same teacher I had for three years and then another for American Lit.) who turned me onto Shakespeare and the English women...I swooned. Yes, I became a swooner and Wuthering Heights was my PASSION for four years running. Until....in college, I discovered DH Lawrence.

So, admittedly, I have been a bit surprised by my new interest in such things....

Ah, I had another point - in adult reflection, in contemplation of fears that reside inside my brain bone, I do think that Harlequinn romances would have been a better reading material than Stephen King.

I have long wanted to get something on my inner left arm, but I'm not sure what. Something to remind me to really live my life.
I'm a little enamored of Genesis 3.5 in the Vulgate or at least part of it like-- aperientur oculi vestri, et eritis sicut dii -- your eyes shall be opened at you will be as gods -- (I say yes to that).
