I knew my SuperSekrit Idea wasn't that Original and yet....it slays me entirely to see it being Executed on a Large Scale. Noctacarna Circus. Sigh. Ah, well, I can still have my own Noctacarna Circus of my own nefarious making, right?

The key in this hobby has always been - when you've been struck with the Idea Bolt of Lightning, you've got to leap back to your feet, and get to work, burns and frizzed hair notwithstanding. You just can't lie there on the ground, electrified by your own Cleverness, and drift off into dreaming of what it could be....

Damn.

That used to happen to me and [info]crybabymommie... I would have an idea... or a TON of ideas really, and I would run around, looking for props. And literally, I would be shooting it, and bam, Marti would post hers. I would be "FUCK!" :( Because Marti is fast and can sew... she simplifies where I analyze the shit out of things. She did that to me like ten times in the beginning.

And then Christy got me like four times at least. You should look at the old Isle of Misfit Toys. That board has a ton of stuff on there, INCREDIABLY creative stuff, from circus themes, movie posters... fake magazine ads... stuff that people NOW do over and OVER again. We were SO far ahead of everyone.

I only got Marti ONES with my TP mummy. And that's because I said fuck it and used toliet paper INSTEAD of going out and buying fabric. Those shots were HYSTERICAL. I kept some of them on my website too.

I think you should STILL do your version, Zag. It will be different. And who really cares if yours was first or second or 100th! Like anyone would have sat there and said "YOU cheated!" Just do it. I'd like to see what you come up with. I actually want to redo a lot of my early shoots... my tarot cards, circus ones, I have over 7000 images that well... I can do much better now. Like anyone is going to complain about seeing more dolls?

Heh - I know that experience, Mercy! But you typed it out far more amusingly than I could have done! I do think there is an undercurrent of Ideas in the dollery and who knows who will pull the same thing out of the water at the same time!

But, yeah, no one is going to complain about more doll pix!

Thanks!

That's awesome - none of my clown paint jobs have ever made me happy. My current clown has just a normal face, but I declare him a clown anyway. My trapeze girl's wig keeps falling off when she's upside-down.

That's not the key to THIS hobby, that's the key to any artistic endeavor. When inspiration strikes, trust that it's struck a dozen other capable people at the same time, and one of you will finish first. That's *definitely* the way it is in horror, a lament that even really big-time pros assure me they share.

The clown and the pierrot are just fantastically well done - plus the mini-bodies look beautiful! I don't think I knew you had a clown!

No, I know what you're saying, B, and you are so right. No one should laze around in a hammock petting their ideas if they really want to do something of a creative nature with their lives. It just sometimes feel that the "medium" of the dolls is more limited than other artistic mediums and so many of the same ideas are grabbed at! I will still do my thing, I was just so surprised to see that this morning!

"Petting their ideas" - that is so apt.

My clown is Ludlow the Sad. My trapeze artist is Iambe, my Unoa - and I had a sleeping face for her for nearly a year that I tried time and again to paint as a classic Pierrot. I just gave up and sold the face. But Iambe's premier performance will be documented soon (soon as her wings arrive, that is. And soon as I get her hair to stay on.)

I absolutely want to see the teenies, but I sympathize, it does suck. I panic over the silly things I take FOREVER to do and of course it doesn't matter... There aren't really any new ideas, are there? Plus, props!! Circus is a big theme, I can't imagine that your take is not wholly unique to you.

Man, I gotta get working on that one idea I have .... ;)

That pierrot is stunning.

I have a feeling whatever you've been incubating will shine bright regardless, so I'm dying to see it in photos!

Yes - Do it. I have a feeling where you might go with it, and a chunk of the magic involves what you know about, and can do with light.

I have anxiety about this with my novel-writing-except right now I feel as if my idea and I are rather tangled up in the hammock, and my idea, lacking other nourishment, is about to eat me.

Thank you, J. It means alot.

We NEED to talk shop - I want to do that over in the comm. I know you commented last week and I haven't responded. I'm sorry for that. But what you're alluding to here is such a part of the process and you're in such a moving-forward place....Are you writing daily?

**BLUSH**

NOOOO I am not writing daily. **cries** I am, er, noting daily, but the writing is a big missing piece. I'm trying to get a grip on the first novel, since the Crypto Caper (#2 in series) feels so strong and healthy.

Let's do it! Let's talk shop! 8-D
